Gabriel Campoy examines family lineage alongside the realities of war, asking what kind of future we are building. The artworks invite conversation and reflection instead of offering conclusions. Not all hope is lost. They ask a simple but urgent question: Where does one’s future go?

Grounded consists of monochromatic family photographs of important women figures in his family, pencil portraits of some of those photographs, and fond memories of his early childhood. The exhibit shifts to sketches of singular clouds that are composed of the human form, inspired by Umberto Boccioni, and bird-like shapes similar to Constantin Brâncuși’s “Bird in Space.” The exhibit wraps up with acrylic abstract paintings continuing to explore the singular cloud that poetically depicts controlled chaos with bones, chicken hearts, screaming faces, and fragile, withering birds.
